This probably won't impress folks in other parts of the state, but in the middle of Cherokee National Forest, this isn't something you see often. This is the first time since we've owned the place we've had a group of does. At most, we've had one with last year's fawn tagging along.

The more effort you make providing food, the more does you will have hanging around.

The last property I bought was 79ac of horribly managed swampland... heavily timbered and regrowth in privet and trash. There was 1 doe with twins living on it...

Fast forward just 6 years, 12 acres of quality food plots, and now there are 12 to 20 resident does on that property annually. We went from protecting all does to taking 4 per year off it.

I'm hoping to get there myself. Its nice they don't allow doe harvest in the forest outside of archery. I'm hoping we can develop a population here.

Didn't you use to be able to shoot a doe in muzzleloader. At least I'm pretty sure you could or still can on N Cherokee. Just not regular gun. Or are you in south Cherokee which has different regs the North does.

Its south Cherokee. Its buck only except for archery/juvenile. The seasons in S CNF are on different weeks than the statewide which makes it interesting.
