Finally went to the range and shot some. Brought the Tikka 270 WSM and 2 M70's chambered in 270 Win and 300 WSM. The Tikka is definetly a shooter!!! First 2 shots was one hole and I didn't let the rifle cool off and shot another about an inch to the right. That was with factory ammo. It didn't like my handloads however. I still have some tinkering to do. The 300 WSM LOVES the 168 gr Tipped TSX and the 130 gr Tipped TSX. It shot right at an inch without letting the barrel cool as long as I should have let it. The 270 Win shot ok but I still have alot of load development to do with it. I mainly shot factory ammo and it shot right at 1.5 inches.

Right now the M70 300 WSM is in the lead for the opening day honors. Less felt recoil than my 270 Win, very light, and just flat out fun to shoot.

good deal, where did you shoot?,you need to try the norris range, havent been there in 2 years or so but need to go before season, somebody that reloads would like it there, you have your own key & they only shut it down for the gun & bow hunt in the water shed,mike243

Kimberman and I went to the range in Oak Ridge. That range is awesome. I've never been to the range in Norris. I didn't even know they had a range.

Let me know when you get your dies. Just give me a call or PM me and we can make some loads for your rifle.

My 300 WSM in the McSwirly stock really has less felt recoil than all of my rifles except my 243 and 308. Absolutely love mine as well.

My 7mm WSM has the most felt recoil out of all of my rifles.

Looks like the 300 is getting closer an closer to getting opening day honors.
