Lookin to get a range finder don't know alot of details would love feedback. I'm torn between the Leupold vx11 and the new bushnell 1000 w/ arc. any feedback is appreciated. steve
 
I've heard nothing but BAD things about the leupold rangefinders, and I'm a big leupold fan. I'd steer away.

Best bang for your buck if you need to range out to 1200 yards is the Leica. Best rangefinder overall under 2 grand is the swarovski. Best rangefinder for 90% of the general population is a standard nikon or bushnell.
 
I had one too and returned to bass pro in Memphis and I really did not like it because it was not very accurate.
 
I'll back megalomaniac up on this one....stay away from Leupold rangefinders. They are very slow to read and eat batteries pretty quick. If you're gonna spend the cash on one, check out and see if cameraland has a demo model Leica. Spend your money once and get a good one and be done with it.
 
At what distance are you expecting to shoot? What weapon are you shooting? For my use the Mil-dot reticle is the best range-finder available. It would be difficult to mount a 10X Leupold Mark4 M3A on a bow and get the eye relief right :) I like the mil-dot reticle because it is the same each time all the time without batteries and a mil-dot reticle in a good scope will last forever.

I sometimes hunt over corn fields, and recently got a savage ml11
lookin forward to reachin out and touching a couple does this year. Also love target shooting with my son normally I shoot a .270 and just got him a .243. I am practicing with the savage and feel pretty confident walking off 200 yds for target but would love to have more accurate out to 300+ for the rifles. I use a crossbow during archery and ussually just walk off a couple trees.
As I am a workin stiff I'd like to stay under $400.

To be honest, it really depends on what you are trying to range. I have the newer version (CRF 1200) of the one I listed and I have had no problems ranging the side of a hill at 1138 yards. The new (CRF) and older (LRF) 1200s have the same insternals.

How far and what are you wanting to range?
