I have found that with my eyesight (its pretty good), if I can distinctly make out the toms eyeball, he is under 40y and im good to shoot.

If I'm setup in the timber don't need/use one but I hunt alot of flat featureless bottomland fields and it can be hard to discern distance especially sitting down.
I never have, Ive just always been really good at distance judging. Golf and football taught me a lot about it. I know it sounds dumb but there I times (mainly in fields) where I say "could I throw a football to or past where he is standing". If I can then he is under 50yds.
I do not. Since I first started deer and turkey hunting in early 90s, I have estimated hunting distances < 50 yards via eye sight. The majority of my shots are in the hardwoods, and most of my setups do not allow for much over 50 yard line of sight.
I carry one if hunting a field and normally do a quick check at set up to identify where my max distance is. The majority of my hunting is in the timber, and I don't carry one.

Bowhunting helps me with it. Never have. I could see the help in big field hunting.

I have striped and lined football fields for years. Now, I can't get up and step off a turkey before I shoot, but I am almost exact when I shoot and step it off.
When I am deer hunting with a bow, I look down and imagine myself stepping off yard by yard. And I look at trees or what not to have references to my imagination steps. I am accurate with that as well.

I do and will always have one on me. I can judge yardage also. Anybody that wants to bash me I don't care, you hunt your way and I'll hunt mine.
why would someone bash you for it?
Yep I always carry one hunting. When I sit down and if I have time I range markers just to be sure. I'm decent at guesstimating but if I can confirm it with the range finder then why not?
This is exactly what I do. I use it to verify my internal range finder once I get set up so I know once a bird gets past a certain point he's killable. It's easy to get tunnel vision in the moment when a bird is doing his thing and your heart is pounding. Best to verify beforehand and not screw it up IMO.

I do when hunting anything. Growing up in Southern California deserts and scrub land I am great at judging open distances, but get me in any sort of wooded area and I have a very hard time. Not being able to see the horizon really messes with my brain.
I typically don't but it has crossed my mind at times. Those really open areas can be hard to judge accurately and my eyes aren't getting any younger.

I can think of a few times where one would have helped me.
