me and a friend of mine are gonna go over to the farm and try and use some GPS dog collars and a chainsaw to try and extend our range to target from firing line,,

I have been studying it on Google Earth and think we might be able to get 1300 with just cutting 2-3 trees down ,,

if it lays to where we can make it work we will have to carry gear to shoot on 4 wheeler and may have to carry the steel targets a couple hundred yards,,

Thats good stuff big, cuttin trees down to bang some metal. Them dog collars wont be dead on accurate on the yardage or at least mine aint. They seem to be off by a couple or more yards sometimes. Im waiting on the 2000 yd shot. You guys have fun.

as long as we can get a reading within 40-50 yards we can spot the shots and figure the exact range latter,,we are just trying to go as far as we can on our own place where we can make our own rules.

Right on. Ya I think best I can remember mine has never been off more than 10 to 15 yds or so. You should be good with that. Did you get that scope set up like you were talkin about to get to 2000?

with a 20 MOA base I have 19 Mils of adjustments ,according to JBM that will take me to about 1700,,the reticle has 10 more Mils of holdover that will get to 2150.

what I would like is enough taper in the base, that .5 Mils from the bottom of the scopes internal adjustments would be zeroed at 300 yards,,then I would have 30 Mils of adjustments with the ability to holdover 10 more mils,

set up like that with a 300 zero I could get to 2200 with the knobs and 2500 maxed out and a 10 Mil holdover..

I think a 40 MOA base would work, but I may try the Burris rings with the offset inserts and play with the different tapers to get the adjustments at the bottom with a 300 zero.
