Got a chance to dig a few after work this evening. The litl man and me already had eggs and ramps for supper. His mother is not real happy! :D

Yeah they grow wild, but can be hard to find. Quite a few up in the park but I wouldnt wanna get caught with em. Luckily my job lets me do a little scouting and some access to private property. They are kind of a mix between green onions and garlic, not realy sure how to describe it honestly. Great in fried potatoes or with scrambled eggs. Or just raw with a meal. My town even has the longest running ramp festival in Tn, 59 years I believe.

The Ramp Tramp Festival Spend the day enjoying bluegrass music and old time fellowship while enjoying a meal of fried ramps in eggs, fried potatoes, streaked meat, white beans, and corn bread.

10:00 A.M. = Flag Raising Ceremony by the Polk County Veterans

10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. = Ramp Lunch

10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. = Craft Venders, Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel Music!

12:00 Noon = Welcome by U.S. Forest Service Ranger and Polk County Executive, Awards for oldest, youngest, largest family, and the one traveling the farthest to attend. Ramp Eating Contest, Door Prizes, Silent Auction!

Smells like garlic, tastes like onion and has a similar tecture to leeks. Been going to ramp festivals in Virginia for many years. It grows wild throughout Appalacia.

I transplanted several of them along a creek in the back yard. They are spreading pretty good.
