I don't know about you guys, but I love a light rain! If it is like today on opener I think its gonna ba a good one! I have always seen more deer movement in a light rain. It makes for less hunters in the woods, and more deer moving around during daylight hours. As long as it does not get stupid hot for some reason I think we are in for a treat!

I love a light rain too. We have a 20% chance of rain so if it does hopefully it will be light.
I don't like bow hunting in any kind of rain..But come ML or rifle season,im all for it as long as its not pouring.

i love a light rain while hunting. it also is constantly a noise on the leaves, so deer dont pay so much attention to a little noise that you make.

I like to gun/MZ hunt in a slow rain. Never liked to bow-hunt in a rain due to possible problems tracking a wounded deer.

I wouldnt mind some light rain. went out today to check my camera and I jumped 4 deer that were all together. One was a small 4 point. So it doesnt stop them much

Bow hunting in the rain is no good. Wet ground means bad blood trails and alot of lost deer. Muzzleloader and rifle I like a light rain.

You know, typically MZ or a rifle will inflict more shock/damage to an animal and they usually dont go very far when shot. Its not rocket science.

Not my point at all not all bullet shots end with a bang flop i trailed 2 deer for 60 yds each they were shot with 270 and a 30.06 and both my bow kills from last year only went 20 yds either way if you are hunting and shoot a animal you could have to track it even with a rifle in the rain a blood trail is a blood trail ask Nimrod how far his rifle shot deer went last year so maybe it is rocket Science and not to mention the blood trail was heavier with 1.5" cut broad head compared to the rifle hole except where the deer was standing at poijbhtn said:

So my point i guess is don't hunt in the rain because you dont want your equipment wet or something like that. my deceased fathers rifle will never see moisture again i hunt every year with it but i would never take it out in the rain. I wouldn't hunt with a rifle in the rain over a bow because i expect deer to fall over at my feet when i shoot them with my rifle or ml just sayin
Wait. I have killed two deer with a bow that were a bang flop. One double lunged and he only went 10 yards. The other was a spine shot and it dropped where I shot it. The double lung shot was with a Muzzy 100g fixed. It looked as if someone dumped a five gallon bucket of blood everywhere. I personally like the rain because the deer will move more freely around. Now I am not talking raging thunderstorm, or tornados, just a solid rain. About the rifle thing. I can understand why you would not wanna take it out. But that just means its one less person in the woods I have to be concerned about.

Point taken, however my point is that we all know that the odds of putting a marginal/bad shot on a deer with a bow are about as good as making a good shot. If you make a bad shot on a deer with a bow in the rain your odds of finding him are slim to none. I have always been scared to bow hunt in the rain cause it makes me sick to loose em.
