With rain in the forecast for the next few days is anyone else taking a break? I'm thinking by Wednesday I'll be heading back to the woods. I'm approaching 30 hunts so far this season.

lucky enough to get two does yesterday afternoon.enjoying the rest of weekend at home.put alot of hours in so far to just now have two.regroup and start back friday

I've passed several 3 and 2 year old bucks hoping for a mature one. It's about to be blow a doe time. Been waiting to let it get cold enough to hang her over night. Next weekend maybe a good time.

The rut by all accounts is tapering off . I suspect in a few days unless we get another cold front in daylight rut activity may be over for the most part after this weekend

I agree 100% with this. Might as well start getting in the mindset of hunting and deer on the winner feeding pattern…

I only get the weekends to hunt. Sure wish I would have went this morning, but the wife wanted to take our oldest out to see a movie and I decided to stay in.

The does grouping back up like they have and not seeming to be looking over their shoulder not having a care in the world attitude is sorta the early signs . They just don't have that same flight look they had just one week ago .

My guest who was hunting mid week said the 3 pointer he killed look like he was just out feeding and not really cruising hard . You would think a 1.5 year old would be hot to pick him up some scraps .

No break here. I thought it was dwindling down but with all the chasing and cruising we have seen the last few days I had to give it another go. Southern Marshall County...

I took an unplanned break this morning and slept in. Headed out way behind schedule. Barely a sprinkle so far. Got here just after midday, snuck in slow and quiet, watching a good looking creek thicket jungle crossing. I won't shoot a doe way back here unless I can film the perfect video, in which case she will be going to HFTH. I'm hoping a buck might show up. Might not see anything of course. Rain might get a little heavier but it's just a drizzle now.

I'm off for another 8 days, hunted every weekend and haven't seen any chasing on our place other than a four pt. and I know we have at least 3 shooters around.
It's been frustrating although I have seen plenty of deer but I haven't even fired a shot all year. Yesterday I did see three small bucks and several does.
Today I'm taking a break or that was my intentions but my wife got me in the attic bringing the Christmas tree and decorations down.
It's relaxing watching the kids decorate the tree and putting out decorations.
Once the weather breaks I'll be meat hunting, tired of letting the does walk. Hopefully in 8 days I can put the smack down on a few does and hopefully a mature buck, if not I'll have fun trying.

nothing better than hunting in the rain (a light rain) when the temps are unseasonably warm. Really helps daytime feeding/ movement.

Not yet. Saw the best rutting activity I've seen all year this morning. All sizes of bucks were chasing hard.

Same in Bradley Co. haven't seen any sign or rutting at all

The rut was weird for us in southern Lincoln county last year. We saw our best chasing around Christmas and some of the guys took their better bucks at that time.

Any doe that has not been bred will come back in after 28 days.Any buck in hard horn will be after her and able to breed her.
Some hunters call it the second rut..just a breeding cycle. And this will continue until the bucks drop their antlers. All doe do not come in at the same time. :o
