Yeah, "antlerless-only" really stretches the meaning of "only" in this case. I assume the first 3 hunts are truly "antlerless-only" since they lack a stipulation that the first deer must be antlerless?

That is confusing. I'd go by the proclamation and not waste points on a 2 day earn-a-buck hunt unless you were sure you could kill a did right away.

By the way the proclamation reads, the hunts oct 17-18 ,oct 31-nov 1 are antlerless only no bucks allowed but the last gun hunt in November would let you shoot a buck after taking an anterless deer. The place is covered up with antlerless deer and no one was really wanting to take a doe so now they're trying to thin the herd some

When it comes to deer, I enjoy cooking them almost as much as the hunt. Sounds like a great meat hunt.

Based on the last few years if I had no points I don't think I would put in for PI. However, I have invested 10 years at this point so I will continue until I draw or they stop the hunt.

Not sure what part of the state you are in, but I used to enjoy the Hiawassee Hunt. Lots of deer and it was close the where I used to live.

I'm in middle tn so maybe yanahli? I am going to start fir my son as well who is 6 and 3. So if it took10 years or few more for PI that would be fine with us.

In that case I would put in for PI possibly. There has been discussions about the future of the hunt, but with your kids so young worse case you would have a few points built up.

I am doing this for my son. I have invested 7 points before this year so will continue until I draw or the discontinue the hunt as well. My son is 8 and is not really into it yet and he has 2 pts going into this year. Worst case 3 years from now if he is into it and wants to go on a youth hunt I can put in and he will draw most likely the first time.

What is the minimum age for putting in for quota hunt preference points? Just got my son his lifetime sportsman's, but he's just a toddler.
Seems from the response above it's 6 years old.

Everyone gets a point, but in terms of the drawing itself, the person with the least points determines how many the group has. If you have a party for PI, you have 4 points but your buddy has 0, your party has zero.

I've been putting in my 9 y/o for last 3 years and put my 6 y/o in also. so what if they are in their late teens or early 20's when they get to go if it's still open. I did the same for them on adult turkey hunts that require 3-4 pts. Probably wait till my 9 y/o turns 12 to cash his turkey hunt points in. just started my daughters hunt points.

6 y/o was when they were able to put in for the adult hunts. it came up automatically on the app when i put their SSN, DOB & Name in that they could apply.
