Quick powder question

I have a CVA Wolf and Optima v2.
I've shot White Hots for years now.
(.270 grain PowerBelts with two 50-grain pellets)
The shelves are empty.

What are you guys' thoughts on the Alliant Blue MZ pellets?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Not trying to derail the topic but..... I've tried most every pellet out there and don't care for them. Loose powder will always give a more accurate load than pellets and that's what I have used for years. And with good speed loaders there is no advantage of faster 2nd shot....which I have never needed.

Have to agree with the above. Sure pellets may be convenient but they will not allow you to fine tune a load. Use loose triple 7 in our cva accura's with great results.

BlueMZ IS a WhiteHot.....Same propellant just dyed blue. The SDS is identical and under the same patent.

Well . . . .before I posted this, I'd looked for a bunch of reviews and could find little help other than everybody raving about how accurate and clean-burning Blackhorn 209 was.
So, since my wife already picked up a pack of the Blue MZ, and there's an absurd shortage out there (at least in my neck of woods), I guess I'll shoot these for now.

But, in light of your advice and the numerous people who gave it a thumbs up, it looks like I should consider shifting to a loose powder.
Should I assume y'all also recommend the BH 209?
I haven't familiarized myself with the muzzleloading forum on tndeer, tbh, so I'll be doing that soon.
I started out with Triple7 pellets and they fouled up my barrel so badly, I had to swab and/or clean between each shot.
My quick move to White Hots helped tremendously, but I still like to at least swab between shots.
So, if loose powder allows me to shoot a few times without cleaning, it seems the faster 2nd shot anyhow!

You will need the BH209 breech plug if you plant to switch to BH209. CVA, Western Powders and Lehigh Defense all offer a BH209 plug. I like the Lehigh the best.

Thanks for that reminder. I recall reading that in my "research." Although I've been muzzleloading for probably 7 or 8 years (or more, who keeps track?), it was all self-taught and Google/YouTube learned. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't study all the advice and information on here. Point is, I feel I still have a lot to learn in the MZ category.

BH209 is really good powder. Before it I shot Pyrodex Select. The BH breech plug is a good idea but not 100% necessary. I shot my regular breech plug in my Optima for a while and never had a problem but did swap to the BH plug. My son still shoots with his original Optima breech plug and hasn't't had any issues.

The breach plug will work but I wouldn't trust it if hunting unless you clean the plug a lot.
