Questions regarding LBL

I hope to be going for an archery hunt the 2nd week of October. I've never been and plan on camping for two nights.

Are there any areas that may be better to archery hunt? Also, which campgrounds would you recommend and why?

I like area 16 for hunting. 15 is also good. My dad and brother prefer 12, but there's enough land there to find what you like and works for your style of hunting.

We stayed at Dover inn but heard a lot of ppl camp at piney

All the LBL "compartments" are more similar than different.
All border a lake on one side, all have high ground, low ground, etc.

The best one is whichever one you end up spending the most time.
All have some minor uniquenesses, but it's just that in the big scheme, "minor".
Area 16 (the compartment closest to the Dover Inn) contains one of the largest "no hunting" acreages.
Considering that, some would question why go farther for bowhunting (if staying at Dover Inn).

That said, bowhunters may hunt 16 a bit more than some other areas,
but gun hunters hunt it less.

Some hunters like 15 best simply because it's the biggest.
Never mind more hunters may cue in on the more remotes spots in 15,
making them more crowed "spots" than many other spots closer to a road.

Basically, wherever a hunter has been and had success in the past, they keep going back, spend more time there, and therefore those areas become "best" for those particular hunters.

The best one for you will become whichever one you end up spending the most time.

My uncle and I stayed in Piney campground last year during the first gun hunt. Pretty quiet place with great scenery. I've never bow hunted there, but my uncle has been all over that place. He missed a giant in area 15 several years ago. There are some pretty ridges where I gun hunted in area 13, but it's like others have stated, it just depends on what you like to hunt.
