rifle and caliber will make a difference

Savage MLII with 250gr SST, .50 cal.
47 gr of IMR SR4759. Don't know the velocity but is very accurate.
Want to make sure 47gr is safe. Would appreciate opinions.

I tried to lookup the loads on dougs message board as they have that powder listed, I didnt have time to down load it but the quick look wouldn't work, not sure if the download will either, if you go there the load info is marked in the top of the board,

I looked up old load data from Doug's MB on my computer and some of the test loads showed 43-47 grain of IMR SR4759 (plastic jug, not old school metal can) with Savage MLII and 250 grain sabot/bullet. I could not find any data for muzzle velocity or pressure traces for the 44-47 grain loads. Best I can recall, 43 grains of IMR SR4759 was the sweet spot for not blowing sabots, desired accuracy, desired velocity, acceptable recoil, and safe pressure. Maybe gmb54 will chime in and provide additional guidance and possibly trace data for 44-47 grain loads for IMR SR4759.

47gr of SR4759 is over the limit but i bet the pressure is still under what the MLII barrel can handle. 43-45gr is typically considered the max for 4759 in the PLASTIC BOTTLE. The old metal can stuff is hotter.

43gr and a 275gr Parker gives me a little over 2200fps in my NULA. Never clocked it in my MLII but it should be around 2200fps.
