Looking for advice from individuals who are successful in the mountains. I had a camera up on an area where oaks are dropping. All of the photos I got were in the morning but the camera covers a tiny space in a big area. What is the potential that those deer are coming in at all times of day or do you think they are moving to other areas in the evening?
 
Not sure if I fall into the successful category or not, but if I found a hot oak tree, dropping acorns with good deer sign around, I would probably be hanging my stand thereabouts. I'd guess that your chances would be above average to catch them coming in to that area. The deer where I hunt don't have a specific pattern, they roam a large area for the most part, with no patternable trails to speak of. Just an area that they browse thru, in slightly different locations until the food is not there anymore.
 
Look up Steve Flores. He is on several podcasts. I know Wired to Hunt had him on. He hunts this terrain and gives a lot of good insight.
 
If you are getting pics of deer where the oaks are dropping, hunt it. Probably just a matter of time until you get an opportunity.
 
Here in east tn mountains i found sometimes my big bucks not in my area until late like in nov so i go a couple time each month to check the area funny how much sign they can make in a couple weeks

It really depends what you are hunting.- does and small bucks...good chance they moving throughout the day. Mature bucks, far less chance. But, this could be a magnet for mature bucks in late Oct and Early Nov, as they come looking for does. But, as the rut begins to kick in, I switch my tactics to hunting funnels and travel corridors in the mountains. Just my experience.
