Question for bsk

Had a fella tell me that a doe under 3 has a 60 percent chance of birthing a buck as they get older it switches to does. I don't have any reason not to believe the guy just want a second opinion and maybe some research to back it up. Thanks

The only age-class of doe that research has shown to drop a preponderance of male offspring is yearling does. Basically, females that bred as fawns and give birth near their first birthday. For whatever reason, successfully bred female fawns give birth to a high percentage of male offspring. After that age, it generally runs 54% male, 46% female offspring for all age-classes (the slightly higher percentage of male offspring is Nature's way of compensating for the higher natural mortality of male deer).
