question for boolit casters

my average weight has gone up 2-3 grains, is this due to me getting more experienced.

mine today were hitting at 397-398 grains

the last casting was 394-396 grains

the lead/tin mix is with the same original batch I first mixed

my mold is a 400 grain boolit, the sample that came with the mold weights 405 grains on my RCBS beam scale

Could be the temp of either your casting pot or your mold or possibly the way you are pouring (faster or slower).

I wouldnt worry about it, you are not going to see a noticiable change in POI. My 240gr boolits for 44mag were hitting anywhere between 243-249gr using wheel weights. Gave up on weighing them.

Probably getting more experienced. Like anything else the more you practice it the better you will become. That two grain varience ain't bad for cast bullets that size.

I've found that in casting you need to develope a rhythm and try to be as consistant as you can with each cast. After casting visibly inspect them and make sure they are fully filled out with a perfect base. If you're looking to maximize your accuracy, separate bullets when you weigh them into lots according to their weight. When reloading use only from a single lot.
