Pyrodex or Blackhorn 209

My starter muzzle loader is a CVA Buckhorn. Looks like I won't be upgrading this year. I would like to question if I would get better performance by changing from Pyrodex pellets to Blackhorn 209 powder ?
When I first looked into this the CVA Buchorn did not have the type of tight tolerance between the firing pin mechanism and the percussion cap needed for safe use of the Blackhorn 209 powder.
That is according to the Blackhorn 209 website.
Am I interpreting this correctly ? Anyone have any experience using this powder in a lower end in-line muzzle loader ?
Right now I shoot 100 grains of pellets and the Barnes TEZ 250 grain bullet.

Im shooting 100gr of the BH209 and i love it performs great in my Optima V2 with Hornady sst/ml 250gr.It cleans up alot better also.

The design of some guns isn't compatible with bh. Usually it's the design of the breech plug that causes issues. You could try it and see how it works. You may experience hang fires or misfires. The cleanup is a lot easier with the bh but it costs a lot more to shoot

That rifle can NOT shoot blackhorn209, it will launch the primer into your face. It is meant for closed action muzzleloaders like the cva optima, accura, wolf, tc encore, etc. Not open plunger style muzzle loaders.

Sounds like I won't be making any changes in powder. Hope I can afford that Optima next year. Thanks for the advice, or warning as it were.

How about loose Pyrodex? You can bump your charge up or down in lets say 5 grain increments to find the sweet spot for your rifle. It will most likely be cheaper to shoot too.

I shot loose Pyro for years, no complaints at all from me about it.
