I have been down this year due to lack of buck sign. Me and a buddy have hunted the Putnam/Jackson line on a couple different properties this year and have found zero rubs/scrapes. Well this weekend, things started changing. We found about 6 rubs and 2 scrapes. I actually got to watch a little spike make a scrape. I also had 3 does that came in feeding without any worry it seemed. My buddy killed a descent 9 last night that was with a 6 pointer? He said they came in together? Is it possible that the deer are just now getting started in our area? I've never seen things be this slow, this late in the year. Anyone else seeing any activity in this area?

I hunt close...Overton and they were slow moving this past weekend too. I saw several smallies slowly searching, but not any real chasing. When I was walking out yesterday though, there were big bucks searching everywhere! Seriously, its right on the brink I believe.

I don't know what to say about this years OBSERVED rut. I saw a lot of rut-like activity in late October and early November, but then it just shut right down, even night-time activity on trail-camera. But it seems to have picked up a little in the last two days. Maybe we're finally going to get a chance to see some rut activity. Maybe...

I have been in the woods the last 9 mornings in a row and have seen a chase on 6 of those mornings, this is the time to be in the woods
