I have 4 food plots and this camera was set up on my center plot. It captured over 700 pictures between the last weekend of season until Monday, 3/11/19. On my last hunt of the season my food plots did not show much wear and tear. Activity on the food plots was rather disappointing during the season. Here are some of my observations after this visit.

All the food plots have been hammered. 99% of all of the brassica tops were eaten down to the stub and the turnips that were sticking several inches out of the ground are gone. Usually there are turnips this time of year. They loved them.

Several pictures of bucks with broken racks, mostly 2-1/2 year old's.

Several bucks still in hard antler in March.

Many does and several fawns which I was not seeing during the season.

No bucks over about 120".

Most of the deer still looked fat.

Most dramatic observation was the number of pictures of coyotes. I got pictures of coyotes chasing deer and harassing turkeys. The coyotes are just running amuck. Very disturbing. It's time to become an effective coyote hunter.

Didn't get a picture of him post season. I think he is still around, I saw 2 scraps on his ridge that had been worked since the last rain. I had other big deer prior to the season that I didn't get new pictures of.

Your better off learning to trap yotes is what I read most of the time,it aint as exciting as calling them in but it tends to work better in the long run

Killing coyotes is a lot of fun.

There are threads in the predator section....some how-to's also.

Biggest thing to remember is coyotes hunt the wind. Young dumb coyote will come right in to you. They detect movement so have your rifle up/locked/loaded ready to slip safety off and fire.

Any caliber rifle will do the job, from 17 HMR up but my favorite is a 22-250 pushing a 60 gr Nosler Partition at 3700 FPS. Superformance max charge, 210M primer, R-P brass.

If you go buy a new rifle be SURE you get one with a fast (1:7 or 1:8) twist. Standard 22-250 twist is 1:14, really limits bullet weight.

I can't think of many things uglier than a coyote with mange.

Agree - always unfortunate on the coyotes and trapping is the ,ost effective IMO. Good to see the bucks though. Helps to get through to next year.
