Sitting in wind chill of negative 4 degrees this morning I was watching a good buck at 50-60 yards to my right. He was at a slow cruise with his nose down. He was heading in the direction of my friend I was hunting with. I knew he would love to kill a buck of this caliber so I made sure not to disturb him and let him continue in the same direction. But when I looked to my left I had a coyote closing quick in a direct collision course with the buck. I grabbed my bow and when he walked behind a small cedar I drew back and dropped him in his tracks when he came out the other side. He moaned a little bit but died relatively quiet. I look back over at the buck and he hadn't noticed a thing. He continued easing up the ridge but apparently hung a right at the top where my camera caught him crossing right under a stand I had mentioned that my buddy hunt that morning. Oh well... maybe he'll get a chance in next two days.

Very cool! You are a good friend cause I would have been trying to kill that one.
I've already tagged out with my bow tag. I have to wait for friday thru sunday gun season to kill another one. I had a bigger one than that I could've killed yesterday afternoon. It's still fun just to be in their presence even if you can't shoot them. Come friday that will change!!
