Got to my listening spot early this morning. Sitting there in the dark listening for a gobble when about 40 yards behind me down in the woods came the most savage sounding growling and snarling I believe I've ever heard. Scared the crap out of me. Finally figured out it was coons but there for a while I didn't know what it was. I might start carrying a light with me from now on.

I jumped a covey of quail walking in in the dark several years ago. I'm pretty sure I lost a year or two off my life...
