Busted by a bigger one early, he smelled me, I drew but couldn't get a shot due to limbs. Maybe 2.5 year old

A while later I notice a deer feeding under a big chinkapin behind to my left. 20 yards somehow spine shot him but he dropped. Due to limbs getting in the way I took 3 follow ups and only 1 hit the deer. Went in the back of the hip all the way to the liver. One arrow hit a limb and I haven't found it yet. Wasted arrows to make sure he died quick. Gutted him and then climbed in ImTheres ladder stand 10 yards from my climber and had a doe come in behind me near my dead buck. She was real unsure of the situation and drifted back into thicket land. I will be sitting here another 30 mins or so. Got the whole shot on video which will come later.

Congrats... Question, are all of ur arrows the same length? Not the really short one but the rest. One looks about a inch shorter...

Congrats on the kill Catman! Has anyone else noted how dark the tarsal gland is? I wouldn't think it would be that dark at this time of the year. Could it be related to a false rut which others have noted?

the one was darker than the other for some reason. Ain't too early for rubs and scrapes, been seeing those since bow season started.
 
congrats, save 1 or 2 for us, we will be down on the 10th,staying in campground to the east of Columbia more than likely
