Anybody had success with electric or chemical deterents? Reviews for Hot zone sound iffy, gallagher electric fence is downright outrageous price wise, and chemical application has it's own list of challenges. Starting to think a 6-8 foot chicken wire fence would be my most price effective method while providing peace of mind. Opinions or advice on similar struggles or equipment you have utilized would be appreciated.

I think you need to combine aggressive doe harvest, native habitat management, and an electric fence with solar charger. I'd plant something a little less preferred like cowpeas or sun hemp on half so you don't have to fence but half. Then replant that half to fall annuals. The problem with an 8' fence is you'll have to take a lot of it down every time you plant.
