I recently bought a new Savage Model 11 in 223 and topped it off with a Leupold VX-3, 3.5x10x40. I want to get advice on properly breaking in the gun as far as how often to clean, such as after every shot or what, and how many rounds to fire before it is broken in. Also I plan on shooting the Federal Premium 60 grain Nosler Partitions to use for deer hunting. Would I need to use these same rounds to break in the gun or could I use something cheaper during break in ? I bought this gun for my 6 year old son to deer hunt with and that will be what the gun is mostly used for. Any advice would be appreciated.
