Started my weekend Thursday by meeting up with Football Hunter and Quailman. We rode FH and my properties to get input from Quailman on some management tips/ideas. Turned out to be fun and informative. Thanks Chris for your time and expertise.
Friday had the chance to till some ground. Thanks to FH for letting me use his atv disc. This pic is form one of the ridge tops that I have high hopes for. When I turned the dirt it turned up a lot better than I expected(pic doesn't show). The second area I forgot to take a pic of but I will when it starts growing. BTW, Ridge top planted lespedeza from Quailmans suggestion and mixed clover in it for fun. The bottom is clover. Friday evening while sitting in my buddy stand over my tree plot/food plot I seen 7 does. The most I have seen in a plot on my place. Fun.
The rest of the weekend was just clean up at the cabin. Cleaned up some of the debris from building and have some left to do later.
last but not least I finished mulching(ran out last weekend) around the tree plot trees and looks like I have room for 8 more trees. 7 new ones and one to replace the one Arkansas black apple tree that the oak fell on.
After doing some more looking I have a new project to start in August. Spraying a potential plot for next year. I have about 4 year old growth and about ten foot trees that need to come out. It is between two of my ridges and appears at first to be big enough for a plot. I have been looking for another area for a plot that won't get hunted. May have found it. Great weekend.
