meeting a guy tomorrow to look at a garrett ace 250...i dont want to spend too much because i have no clue about them but from other post i have read this seems like a good one to get and try out...

is there anything to look for that may be wrong with it that someone who has not done this before can tell????

prob get it for $175...sounds ok to me but once again i have not done it...

I have an ACE 250 and they are great little detectors. They can hold their own with the expensive ones. And that's not a bad price for an ACE 250 if it's in good shape. Make sure the coil is not cracked or chipped, or worn down from sliding on the ground. But chances are that it's in fine shape. Mine has been getting used a lot this spring and good as new. Hope this helps.

You can buy them brand new all day long with warranty and accessories for $200. $175 for a used one...not so sure bout that unless it was mint with warranty. They are decent machines though for the money. Just dont expect coins at 12 inches or anything.
