Primitive Weapons

I did not want to hijack the other thread. I know it was voted unanimously not to pass in TN. Something about they would have to create another season.
My question is what guns would classify fitting in this category? I know some have mentioned an H&R rifle. Would a TC contender meet the requirements? Would a lever action count? Also, some states even let you use a shotgun with a slug.
Just curious and do not know a ton about it. I have read through some things on MS and LA hunting regs about it. Basically it just gives caliber range and says straight wall.

You got me, when I hear primitive weapon I think of this:

Anything else besides BP is just a modern firearm, and even black powder is getting very close to modern. If someone wants to use a straight wall cartridge, have at it, during gun season. Many of those cartridges compete very well with "modern" cartridges, and if we hunters are doing the right thing, only the first shot counts, the next is just for clean-up if need be, and you should have plenty of time for that. I've bow hunted and used my BP to extend the season, but honestly it's been awhile, TN has the longest gun season of any place I've hunted, so besides the Rut, it's just about the challenge.
