Shed season 2015 was awesome for me. I've learned A LOT of new land. I didn't find a big new target buck like I wanted too, but I did get my goal of total sheds and deadhead finds. 51 sheds.. 5 matched sets and 27 deadheads.. Most of the heads werent keepers, but they are always fun to find.

wow, I found a total of one and it was stuck in a bush in my yard, a spike lol, but I only looked a few times also
 
Nice! Do you have a dog you use or is this all on your own efforts?

I would be interested in a quick synopsis of your methods.

Don't have a dog, but I'd love to have one. I went with another member who does have one and it was definitely awesome to watch the dog work.

I just walk a lot. I don't find many for the amount of hours spent looking. About 75 hours from Jan-March 7th. That was a lot of low success walking (still productive time to scout though).. Only found 2 sheds, but a fair amount of deads.. Essentially I picked up more knowledge of land than antlers which is important for the fall so it wasn't time wasted. From March-Yesterday I added 125-150 hours. If you're looking for advice on how to find them the best I can tell you is to walk a lot and be persistent. Don't quit just because you haven't found much. For example-yesterday I walked from daylight to a little after 1:00 and had found nothing.. I picked up a deadhead 10 pt and a spike shed a couple hundred yards apart.. Didn't find anything else til about 5:00 when I picked up 3 in 30 minutes. It's hit and miss.. Just walk a lot and you'll find them. Grid search the hot spots.. Fields (any fields not just ag).. edge habitat (this is the best place by far).. Thickets.. All of that good stuff

Picked up 52 and 53 as I was putting out a trophy rock. Not very big but my sixth matched set of the year. I've got 4 more mineral sites that need to be set out so maybe I'll pick one or two more up from that.
 
I've only been 4 times with no luck but as crazy as it seems still getting bucks with both sides on cam.Cool finds though good luck on finding the set your looking for I couldn,t imagine finding that many.I'd be willing to say that would account to 75% of the bucks in the area i've been hunting.Only wish i was joking
 
Checked the cam today and now getting bucks with one horn,maybe I'll get lucky and find a horn or two but don't think i could find that many in several years in my location

The only ones found in my home county were the last two. I've never even found a shed on my 40 acres of private. It's just about your willingness to find them. Go knock on doors.. most people don't care for you to look. Many TN residents are oblivious to the fact that deer shed their antlers. Try public.. You'll spend a lot of hours walking with no finds but you have unlimited access relative to your time. You're going to do good to find 2-3 sheds on 100 acres in most parts of TN. It really just depends on habitat and where the deer spend their winter (which is often a fairly small range of area)
 
Just another thought on shed hunting public land....
If you've never hunted an area and possibly have been wanting to check it out and learn something about the landscape, there's no better way or time to do it than now while shed hunting.
 
Crazy how many shed you have found in ONE year. Congrats!

Question: On the shed heads, is that a different species of deer? How long does it take them grow the entire head back? ;)
