I meant to do this last yr in the "show us your wood" thread, but never got around to it. it seems that 90 percent of the guns that introduced to the market now are of the plastic persuation as many hunters see a gun simply as a tool. To me personally they are both a tool and a work of art. i have also found that nothing feels as a good or is as quite in the woods as a real wood gun. every gun in the photo work for a living (the new cdl has killed several deer, just not with the new stock). i am more of a squirrel hunter and predator caller than deer hunter and those little cz's have been working hard for me for over a decade. there are few scratches here and there, but that only adds to the character. Besides the only plastic that my hand has room for is my mountain dew bottle. Let see your walnut rifles.

Nice spread there RB, some very nice looking guns you have. I am one of the guys who see my hunting weapon as a tool, thus most of mine are composite these days. I do own a few nicer wood stock guns, but they have all became "safe queens" over the years. I guess one could say I am not much on pretty when it comes to my hunting guns.
 
Funny thing is, i have put more scratches on mine getting them in and out of the safe than hunting with them
 
:D I know about the safe thing. I put the first and only scratch on an old Remington shotgun I had just redone getting it out of my safe...

Nice looking guns. I only have a Marlin 30-30 with a wood stock and am working on a fixing up an old Winchester semi-auto in 30-06, but not even close to done yet.
 
You have got some nice walnut on those rifles for sure. The checkering on the FW looks like it was done well (nice and sharp) and not fuzzy like some of the stocks that were made near the shut down.

I'd post some of pics of my rifles, but you guys have seen them hundreds of times already. I haven't taken any new pics in a long time.

I bought in back in 2002 a couple years after i got my cz 452. it is an amazing rifle. i figured it has killed 30-40 yotes, at least 10 cats, fox, coon, crow and plenty other critter. it is 2nd best gun i have ever owned behind my cz 452

it sure is. i just wish the major gun makers would offer more rifles in walnut and use a higher grade walnut. i am hoping the "plastic era" will end soon.
 
they used the logic that plastic is more stable to get people to buy it to start with,,when in fact it is just cheaper and they make more money off it,,

now if you want pretty wood you must pay for it..

excellent point. however, some manufacturers are benefitting from some hunters who believe plastic is suppose to cost as much or more than walnut, because that is tat they see at the hunting expos or on there favoriite hunting show. when i got me my kimber 84 classic i was in shock that the montana (plastic version) was 70 dollars HIGHER than grade A CLARO walnut with a hand rubbed oil finish. even now on buds guns , the kimber 84 select ( the super fancy model with high gloss bluing to boot) with a AA GRADE fancy walnut is only 20 dollars more than the montana with plastic and matte finish. blows my mind!!!!
 
Awesome! i prefer synthetic and ss barrles etc but i love wood. i am just too rough on them and i like the fact that synthetic does not offer that kind of beauty cause i dont focus on "dent" prevention when in rugged deer territory. But i have nothing against wood. those are special! :)
 
UT, MW, beautiful guns. Red, that's quite a stable right there. Guess I see working guns as more utilitarian. My Dad was just the opposite, he was all into the wood and craftsmanship thing. I have a couple pretty guns, they never see the light of day.
