Just try to understand how this looks to the non-hunting world (not anti-hunting - I don't care what they think). I just think "killing for fun and fellowship" will do more damage to the sport of hunting than anything else. We need more people supporting us, not less.

I don't take your comment as argumentative, and I hope you don't take mine that way either.
If I cant enjoy fun and fellowship while hunting, I won't go. I personally think we need to advertise the sport MORE this way to get the next generation involved, and to hell with the liberals.

I think that the social aspect is a HUGE part of hunting. But hunting something you won't eat or wear (and the wear is really thin these days since the advent of the textile industry sort of 'kilt' the NEED to wear what we shoot) is considered by many to be that term I personally hate: blood-thirsty.

As a rule predators seek out the weak (diseased, injured, young, old).

If you want a permanent fix try learning about the ecology of fear as related to mesopredator management.

This buck does not look diseased or weak. But he is injured. Cuddly coyotes doing what they do best

Like some have already said, I am sick and tired of trying to make others happy and or show concern for their feelings at the cost of personal sacrifice to my feelings and or happiness. Also why do I have to justify why I do what I do to anyone especially when it is in compliance to a set of rules set forth by an agency of the government whose sole purpose for even being in the first place is to protect and maintain what God has set forth for man. Personally, since some are concerned about others feelings, what about the feelings and how it looks to the hunting world to have you post what you have on a hunting forum. Yeah you know who I am talking to. And last but not least to the post from a biologist on this matter all I can say is "REALLY". And to the original poster of this thread allow me to repeat that I would love to come by if you were closer but will hold my own right here this coming weekend in support.

all the posts kept this thread on the forum first page for a good while.... Thanks for all the support, even from those with opposing views. ;o)

As a final event summary: We had an awesome turn-out. We have a lot of predator hunters in our area. It was great meeting new friends. A few game critters (turkey, quail, and deer) will be saved from our effort!

BGG: I enjoyed the TN Wildside segment on your family hunting tradition...

Nevermind: The "eat what you kill" argument leads one to debate the necessity of hunting for sport. We can purchase domestic meats from an almost unlimited supply chain.

Fellow hunters, please don't try to impose your views on other hunters. Choose your hunting method and game species according to your views and personal beliefs, follow the regulations, and most importantly: share your love for hunting with others!

Seems like all you want to do is NOT offend certain groups of people(aka they already disagree with our sport anyway). Anti-hunters are not going to change their minds about what we do. Like others have said, why do we always have to change the way we do things to make other people happy?

I see a ton of deer by that Kountry Korner store every time I head to/from Martin. Sometimes up to 30ish at a time. A couple of decent bucks too.

Nevermind, you need to catch up on your predator/prey scientific research. Savannah River Site in South Carolina has shown some significant findings for coyotes hammering fawn numbers, even to the point of severely lowering the whitetail population. There's plenty of evidence the same thing is going on here in Tennessee, and I don't mean finding deer hair in coyote scat during deer season.
