Predator question

During summer months we had quite a few shooters on the farm once velvet was shed most of them vanished. This is pretty strange for this particular piece of property. We usually hold almost every buck that spends the summer on the farm through out the winter. When bow season started we noticed a few coyotes, by the end of bow season it seemed like we were infested with them. Have you guys ever noticed deer being literally run off a piece of property due to predators? I've seen dogs have a detrimental impact on the herd but I have not seen coyotes; but I guess in numbers it would be the same.

The other day I watched a huge coyote chase a doe and fawn as fast as he could go. It looked like something on Natural Geographic. I've never seen anything like it; I pulled one camera that has been out for a week and it had 7 coyotes on it, two bobcats, and a fox. And these coyotes are huge!!!

I don't know if it happens but it seems like it has happen to one of our farms to. this particular farm has a ton of turkeys so I think that's part of it. but ive seen 13 so far killed three. hate those things. I feel your pain on this one. but we are seeing deer just not as much on this farm in years past.

I'm wondering the same thing. Big increase in coyote pictures and sign over the last two/three years, and it seems a corresponding decrease in deer pictures and sightings.

Ive had dogs run the deer completely off my place before. This year is by far the most deer i have ever seen on this place in 15 years and not a single pic of a dog. My place in Ky this year has been a total bust. Coyotes are everywhere. At night you can hear 20-30. We killed three on opening day. More pics of yotes than deer. Definitely something to it imo.

In the last 5 years the coyotes have been real bad on our place. I've shot several during turkey season running into my decoy. They were chasing the largest buck on our place up and down the ridges during bow season, which really worries me.

I've considered having someone come in and run trap lines.

there is a healthy population of coyotes on one of my places but I see more deer there than anywhere else I hunt. many times I have been watching both coyotes and deer at the same time.

That's what I originally thought but the deer are running from them, it's very obvious the coyotes are hunting fully mature deer. A hunting buddy was watching a food plot right at dark and had 6 bucks from 1-3 years old in it. The coyotes started howling right before dark and he said every deer in that field took off.

Trapping might be an option worth pursuing, as shooting them can be an inefficient method if most activity is nocturnal and you don't have time to dedicate to hunting them.

They bring around $60 alive here !! People buy them to use in starting pens to train dogs, kinda like a rabbit starting pen.
Not sure what the hides are bringing at the moment.
