Deer season is over and I was looking for some tips on how to hunt Coyotes. Any advice on how to get started? I would imagine get a predator call and go from there. Can you bait? What is the best time to hunt...etc.? thanks

Yotes are abundant in Middle Tn, Hands Down, You should kill one every trip unless your hunting 100 acres, then it gets hard because they will get educated if you dont kill em like missing or them busting you, all you got to do is get on the edge of a field that you can see VERY VERY well, in 75% of all directions make sure the wind is in your face, make sure the sun is to your back if its sunny(get in the shadows) decoy will make it that much better, don't have to have a real decoy jus something that will blow in the wind if there is any jus a visual....I usually call for about 5-7 minutes then wait and watch for 15 minutes, not a pro but called in several Yotes, Bobcats like soft calling and generally take longer to move in on the decoy unless they pop out right on top of you...might get lucky and kill a bobcat before it closes around feb.15th as did last year?? Keep these things in mind and you shouldn't have any problems at all!

Good Luck

That gun is a 17HMR, and let me highly recommend something bigger, I would use a 22 MAG if your using rimfire, I use a 204 Ruger when taking a Centerfire!

tnbucs1,

Where do you plan on hunting? I've just decided that's about to become my new hobby, too. My deer lease has more yotes than deer. I put a scope on the AR tonight and I'm watching a few FoxPro calls on ebay.

I plan on hunting in Maury County. Where abouts is your lease? It will be my 1st go round....saw plenty of them in deer season..never got a shot but man...once sunset hit I could hear them in every direction.

Good Co.!

I will be in driving to Lewis County from Marshall County. I saw three big coyotes in Spring Hill city limits this evening. Keep me posted how your hunts turn out. I've got a FoxPro call on backorder at Cabelas so hopefully I'll be trying them in a few weeks.
