Power Pro Line

Anyone use it? Pros and cons? I am thinking of putting it on some reels for catfish rigs.

I have 80lb on my abu 6500's for cats but don't see that big of difference.

But power pro is all I use in saltwater. I flounder fish on reefs about 5-7 miles off the beach and the sensitivity of the line is really needed. Its unreal the difference in bite detection in 35 feet of water when comparing mono to braid. The lack of stretch in braid, makes it obvious when a flounder bites.

The only con I can think of is sometimes on baitcasters, I have had it "cinch down" on my reel and I could not get it to come loose, more than likely it was an error on my part but I've had it happen. On spinners, I've never had any issues.

It actually works better on baitcasters. You need to put a mono backing or electrical tape on the spool. Soak your line in water and get as much tension as possible to get braid to act right!! Make sure to use a flouro or mono leader as the braid has no.stretch and a decent pull or fast feeding fish might rip it right outa' their mouth .

Braid definitely has an advantage in some applications, but like listed above their are a list of negatives as well.

A man could chew on braid for a week and not make any progress. It does work on spinning reels but they don't wind it back on very tight so if you hang something big, the line will bury in the looser line on the spool. Depending on how much tension is put on it , dictates how deep it buried and how big of a mess you will have :(
