I'm not big on sweets or deserts at all...but I really like pound cake.

Anyone else make real pound cake? If it rises much like a regular cake....its an imposter. Pound Cake should be dense.

1lb butter
1lb sugar
1lb flour
1lb eggs(or about a dozen)

A simple syrup with lemon and a tbsp of lemon zest really makes it fantastic. Its my birthday treat yearly.

about 325 degrees for an hour. If a toothpick inserted into it comes out dry/clean its done. ...I like to crank up the heat for the last 10-15 mins to get it a little darker on the bottom.

Pound cake seems to taste better with a nice crust.

My buddy's Mom would make it and the topping was blackberry juice on you own tiny square.

My Dad would pour sweetened condensed milk on it, like it was cereal.

Never really knew why the cake was called a pound cake until I read your recipe.

Maybe it should be called a four pound cake.
