Potatoes

Got them planted today. Weatherman says we may get 1/10 inch rain Friday. Usually this time of year it is more like a 2-3 inches after I plant them. Really dry here for this time of year. We are still considered in a moderate drought .

Planted potatoes last week. I planted some indeterminate Kennebec's in towers for the first time and some determinate Red Pontiacs in containers. We will see how the towers turn out since I've never done those before.

Never knew of a "indeterminate" potato!

Mine have been breaking through for several days now.

Got out and dug them this morning, of course the hottest day we have had. I thought they would have been ready a week or two ago. Most plants had not died down and the ones that had, had some already rotten. Still got plenty for us. Still have some Russian variety that I planted later.

We've been eating potatoes out of the garden for a couple weeks, but my wife tends to harvest early...something about, "If I don't get things a little early, something else will." She was snorted and stomped at out there yesterday and saw twin fawns so she's pretty happy.
