Potatoe pests

Ive had one good year of potatoes in the last 5yrs. Something always gets to them b4 me. Most times its grubs. This time i covered them with straw mounds instead of dirt. worked well except ants ate into alot of them this time. It's always something. Anybody have any good strategies. Ive tried various types ive settled on yukon gold does the best. I use seven dust against the potatoe beetles but it doesnt help below the surface.

I buy Colorado potato beetle beater and spray them. It's a bonide product and it's been good for me.
