post rut???

In this part of the season, in middle TN bucks are still nudging does, but the rut is mostly over. A few yearling does are just coming in here and there...

So for you horn hunters, do you hunt food plots in the morning, or stick to travel corridors? I typically don't hunt food plots in the mornings, but the thought was crossing my mind....

This is my experience, take it for what it is worth. For the last 2 years I have hunted over my foodplots at all hours of the day for the last week of season. I have yet to catch a "big" buck in one during daylight. The day season is over, I will put a bag of corn out on a trail entering my main plot to get an inventory. This plot is at the bottom of a 70 acre, very thick, hillside that I do not hunt. I am amazed at the amount of bucks that will get their picture taken at that corn pile. There are other trails coming into the plot that allow them to avoid the camera and fool me into thinking they aren't there, even with blackflash cameras.

Look at your property and figure out where you would be if you were an old buck that has been pressured. Get in that spot early and don't expect to see a lot of action. However, the action you do see could lead to your best buck ever. It can be extremely boring, but in the end be worth it.

Im hunting a food plot tommorrow morning for a change of pace. I think you'll typically see them right at first light catching a bite to eat on their way to bed. Again you never know what will show and when.
