That article was vague, this one sheds more light. It's humic acid that can possibly break down the prion.

IMO, this is going to just increase. If anything the Canadians will pick up the slack. Since prions are becoming more common across the globe the potential risk factor increases and dementia is becoming more studied. It's just a matter of progress.
