Porter Road Butcher

I stopped in at Porter Road Butcher in Nashville yesterday looking for rendered beef fat. They had posted to instagram that they had some available, but by the time I got there they were sold out.

I'm making pemmican.

After sharing my plans, with the guy helping me he said, "Well, I've got unrendered fat if you want it."

I walked out with 2.5 lbs of unrendered beef fat for $3 a lb that is being rendered in a slow cooker right now. They also have pork fat back for $2.50 a lb.

Their shop is really cool, the people that work there are very helpful, and their prices are similar to what you pay at the Farmer's market.

East Nashville or West Nashville location?

The West N. location has the best bacon/egg/cheese biscuit you will eat.

East, it was the location that had the rendered beef fat I was after. I was disappointed to find out that only the West location serves lunch.

Been to the one on the west side, got some Bacon and Fresh sausage. Really good stuff, little pricey but it was worth it. Wouldn't mind stopping in there for lunch, but its a little ways for me.
