Pop up camper heating?

Just got a used pop up camper.
In the past, I have tent camped.
When electricity is not available, is
Buddy Heater best alternative for heating?
Any input on heating or other areas will be
appreciated. I am newbie to campers.

I have a 12' x 12' outbulding where I lift weights and it doesn't have electricity. I use a Buddy Heater in there and it works pretty dang good considering there are lots of cracks for air to get in and out. Matter of fact I used it this morning for the first time this year. Got on a lease this year and my brother-in-law and I bought a 20' camper and that's what we plan to use. The heater works but propane bottles are cheaper than running the generator all night. If it gets really cold we'll crank the generator and run it.

I'm assuming the pop-up does not have a heater built in? If it does, they run on propane with the fan using 12 volts DC. If you have a good battery and some propane, you have heat.

Yes buddy heater is good. I had the Big Buddy Heater with the extension hose that I ran under the canvas to a 20lb. tank sitting outside. Now let me suggest a couple of things that will really help when it gets cold out. Order some of those sportsman's blankets from Cabela's, the ones that have the shinney stuff on one side and cover the bed end with shinney side down and go to Lowe's and get a roll of Refletix (sp?). cut that to fit in the bunk end windows and zip them inbetween the screen and int. canvas. and cut some to fit under the mattresses also. This made a huge differance in my pop-up camper.

This camper is about a 1970's series viking pop up. It is manual pop-up. No cranking. No built in heat/air.
It is perfect for the hunting camp, and a few steps up from the tent my son and I have been using.

x2.. i'm thinking it was last year a group of guys went to sleep in a camper with some jackwagon type of heater and didnt wake up in the morning!! most definatly get a carbon monoxide detector.. im paranoid about it in my camper.. I got 3 of them..lol..

May be a separate incident but there were some folks camping at a race that died a year or so back because the fumes from their generator got back inside somehow. Forget the details but it was due to the generator being too close.

I used the big buddy in my 27' camper when it got down to 21 . It kept it warm on low . Used a lot less than my furnace on the trailer

We use an electric ceramic heater in our popup; coldest we've been out is 38 degrees at night, but it did fine.

I used the big buddy heater this season since electricity was not an option, and as stated by several on here, it kept us warm in the pop up camper. I believe the coldest night that we were camping, the temp got down to 24.
As suggested I used a bulk tank of propane and ran the hose under the canvas and found the "reflectix" insulation at Lowes. It all worked great.

I had some friend camp at Indy a few years back, one died and others almost. They had carbon monoxide from one of the other campers, not even there own.
