I bought a hub stye blind several years ago and never used it. This will be the year I finally use the new blind. I had a doghouse style popup previously many years ago and thought that this 2 man blind would be similar. Nope wrong idea. This one requires each wall to be sprung out, along with the roof. I expect that I will get used to opening it up between now and deer season but I am wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on the right way to do this. My directions are a\ sewn into an instruction found in the carrying bag and not comprehensive. Right now it would be difficult to set this up in the dark of the morning by myself. Yeah I know its not rocket science but suggestions would be appreciated. I will be hunting by myself for the Oak Ridge hunts and don't want to use the my climber alone.

Ok, maybe I've been using my elevated platform for too long, but what is the difference between a hub style vs popup? I purchased a popup(?) blind...wow, maybe 7 years ago, and only hunted out of it twice, after that I built an elevated platform blind and never kept up with the developments. I looked up "hub style" and to my untrained eye, it looks like a popup to me, anyone care to explain the difference?

What is a "hub style" blind? I've used popups before with my son, but I've never heard of hub style.

Thanks,
hub style has the fiberglass poles coming out of central hubs and a popup is just big fiberglass loops that can be twisted and folded up.

I know one thing, the first dozen times I tried to get my doghouse blind folded back up, I could have easily won the $10,000 prize on America's Funny Home Videos if I'd just recorded myself.

Hub style blinds for me now.

Ok, so it's just the frame then? Mine is an Ameristep with fiberglass poles inside, I would just basically throw it down and stake the corners down. The hub style seems to be taller, and more frame to deal with, but I would guess the extra room would be worth it.

The hub style is pretty straightforward, and a lot easier than the other style. I just open the blind out, then grab the nylon loop attached to the eye bolt in the center of each side, then pull hard until it folds back toward you and is taught. Then the last step is to go inside and push up on the center of the ceiling until it pops up. Then take it down in reverse, by pulling down the ceiling first, then push each side back in and fold the legs up, and push the whole shebang together.

The spring steel type, like my Outhouse blind, took me about a whole season to be able roll back up first try, and I still mess up. Someone told me the trick to those is to coil them up like a bandsaw blade. That clicked with me.

Until then, the cursing, screaming, and gyrations probably alerted very deer within a half mile, and gave my buddies a laugh for sure.
