Have a small pond about 30 yards from my stand that does not hold water anymore. Trying to decide what to do after season. Would I be better off trying to get it to hold water again or filling it in and planting a food plot?
 
There are to many ways for deer to get water in Tennessee for a pond to make the difference in Your deer hunting IMO...food plot is the way to go!
 
Depends on how moist the soil is, if it receives sun and if it ever floods with storm water. I have an old pond in my woods that I use as a big mineral site. It fills with about an inch of storm water after a heavy rain.

If that will be the only water source then fill it up for those hot dry early season hunts. But if you got plenty of water where you then plot.
 
Depends on other water sources. If you have springs or a creek then you prob don't need a pond. If the rest of the property is dry and the pond might be the only water source during dry spells, put some bentonite in the bottom of the pond so it holds water.
