Ok guys I've got a question been out doing a little bit more scouting and I've found another place to hunt, but not sure how to set up to hunt it. When traveling down my road I come across a small piece of land that we see deer coming and going from all year round. So I went out the other day to take a look around and this is what I found. There is a small piece of land on one side of the road where I see the deer and its tall grass about waist high with some thickets mixed in on one side of that is is pine trees that all belong to another mans,and on the other three sides is the road. I have seen several deer cross the road go up through the pine tree where I can hunt at but not sure where they were going. So I went out to checkd out to where they maybe going .I found its all up hill through pines till you get to the top of the ridge and turns to hard woods found a few trails crossing all over the top and going down into the next bottom. I did find a small bedding area of about six or so deer. I am really new to this kind of hunting so I am not sure where to set up any ideas would be a great help this is my second year hunting in East Tennessee and not having any luck. PLEASE HELP!!!!
 
More than likely hunt the top of the ridge.. I say that for more than one reason.

1. It looks like a pintch point for one reason or another, meaning multiple trails converge on that one spot.

2. More than likely it will be your best vantage point to see deer and adjust accordingly for the next hunt. Example- you see most of the deer moving on the hill side or in the bottom.

3. It's the high ground!!! I say this for a few reasons.. First, the higher you can get your scent the better in my opinion. It will be hard for them to wind you unless the wind is really bad. Second, I've noticed time and time again big bucks love to travel ridges because they can see for an exteded distance and protect themselves by dropping off one side or the other if danger approaches.

Every situation is different and this may not be the right answer but it's where I would hunt first in order to not be surprised by deer doing what you don't expect and blow a chance at a good stand location.
