I saw one dead on the road last week that was about that size.

Not at all unusual. Doe fawns come into estrous when they get big enough and then get bred, often times much later than the primary rut. Result is late a fawn.

You think it was bad this year, wait until next year after the long strung out rut we've gone through. Fawns could be born anywhere from May through November this summer.

Ive got one here at the house that still has its spots! Little fart wouldnt dress 30 lbs right now! It showed up with its mother in late Nov. a couple weeks later mom disappeared and didnt show back up until 2 weeks ago. Which tells me she was off looking for a boyfriend for 2 heat cycles. IF she got bred shes gonna drop another fawn in Aug or maybe even Sept!

Turns into a weird cycle with all those late born doe fawns. They will come into estrous long after the primary rut, and that will only continue a pattern of late born fawns.
