This is a trail cam photo from late winter......I covered the headgear so that it wouldn't affect the judgement.

I'd also like to hear some thoughts on the body characteristics affecting your decision. Thanks.

I say 2.5 small neck, shallow body, not much muscle tone. That all depends on how late in the winter and how tough the rut was but I'm no expert. I need help sometime also.

The pic was taken in March....end of winter, not long before greenup. It was taken in Lexington Ky, 2001. That was a very harsh winter in terms of temps...don't think there was too much snow though. The deer in that area tend to have decent body weight. I'm pretty sure I will be able to give you the age of the deer (100% positive he is NOT 1 1/2), just want to see what y'all think.

Being March, I must assume he has lost alot of condition. I would say that deer is 2.5 to 3.5 really hard to tell. He is not sway backed, and doesn't have the belly of an older deer. he doesn't appear to have the big Roman Nose of an older deer either, although this is not the best photo for that. however, he has retained alot of weight through the winter, leading me to lean more toward the 3.5 age class.

Of course I may be totally wrong.
