So 6-7 years ago I planted several persimmons and apple seedlings. They were in tubes, but didn't do well in one particualr spot. Flood waters, deer and bushhogs killed most of them, and the surviving three were stunted and in bad shape. So in early April I did a quick transplant job to better ground. Only I thought my quick transplant was disaster...didn't get good root bowls, one of them was broken and inch up, etc. They each got a bucket of water at the time, but I didn't see them again until returning home last weekend. In the mean time, it's been drought conditions. So I fully expected them all to be dead. Two the three made it! The one that broke has regrown out the top of the tube! I gave them a healthy watering and secured cages around the tubes to keep the deer out....they're in good soil so hopefully won't be long before they're dropping fruit.
