Is this weekend August 9th too early to plant turnips?

Seems like it is a bit early, and you'll likely want some more moisture in the soil first, been kinda dry lately.

As long as you can get it in before a rain, and the spot your planting is tillable (if it hasnt been planted before a first time planting in august may not be feasible) then you should be all right. But, I always wait until late september as the deer dont touch my turnips until after a HARD freeze late in the season.

I like a little later in the month....21st or later and yes, depends on rain...........
