planting pines

I am going to plant some pines over the next couple of months. I have bought them in the past from the nursery in Delano but would like to try another source. I will need 500 or less. Any ideas?

Go by the local forestry office. Usually somebody that is going to plant a big job and they will add a bag for someone else. Need to get your order in asap.

Here is a great site for ordering pines and hardwoods thru TN Forestry. You can order the trees starting in the summer, but they will not deliver until after first freeze. If you want crabapples...order early! http://www.state.tn.us/agriculture/fore ... atalog.pdf

A large part of our lease is being clear cut when if we decide too would be a good time to plant?

Anytime after the first hard frost and before first bud-out in the spring. I usually start planting in Jan-February... After deer season and before turkey season...nothing else going on in the woods...
