These are some before and after pics of my food plot, just got it in today between showers. With a little luck and some rain this impenetrable jungle will be converted to a nice clover/oat/DER field in the next few weeks.

I had a doe hanging out on the edge of the field for the last hour or so, I passed by her on the 4 wheeler within 20-30 feet several times. I've never had one hang around the wheeler like that before, she wasn't young either, go figure.
 
Like your weights on the disk.
Looks really good and alot of hard work.
Keep us posted on the progess of your plot. I am courious to see if you have any weeds come up with an early planting. Hopefully the oats will choke anything else out.
 
I'm pretty sure I'll have some weeds, I pretty much had to do that during the rain to be able to break the soil with that disk so weather really dictated the choice of planting date. I'll go back in the spring and hit it w/ Roundup, this will be a work in progress for a while.

It's a good spot, I think by next season I can have it fairly well manicured. That little disk is just not much of a substitute for a good bushhog.

I think you done fine! Like myself you have to do what you can can do.. with what you have... and make the best of it.
 
I saw that on some hunting show and thought it was a good idea, I like that leverage system a lot, it definitely puts the weight where you need it.
 
I definitely plan to, this spring. In a perfect world I would have bushhogged it and nuked it w/ Roundup before doing anything but with just that little disc and that much growth this one is a baby step deal. Believe it or not that thing was gone over at least 7-10 times with moist soil.
 
I put the oats out pretty thick in the middle and clover/rape evenly throughout. It will be a little messy but I should get a decent stand. Most of that green stuff you can see in the last picture is probably dead by now, it was still fresh right after I disked that day, the seed was definitely hitting wet dirt. I'll shoot another pic in a month or so if it goes well....
