I live down here in Louisiana and am planning a family bowhunt in Tennessee. My brothers and I try to hunt some where out of state every year (while we can still climb)I've made a few phone calls and emails with not much help at TN.GOV. I figured I'd go a different route, so here goes...
What we are looking for is a place to bowhunt with a decent deer population meaning we are not trophy hunters but we would at least like to get a few shots at does. Also, a place to stay near by that would allow us to clean a deer if we are lucky enough to stick one! I'm kinda looking at Fayette and Hardeman Counties but I'm just shooting in the dark here. Any help would be great, I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Thanks,

Craig

Check the hunting guide for WMAs in region 2. Those open with the statewide season would probably fit what you are looking for. Since it will be bow season, there probably won't be a lot of pressure and you should have some good opportunities. You may also consider applying for some archery draw hunts in other parts of the state. AEDC or Oak Ridge may be good choices for that. Both places have plenty of deer.

This is last years hunting guide, but I don't expect a lot of changes between last year and this year except for the actual dates.

Welcome aboard Craig,
Take a look at the Hunt Swaps forumn. I'm over in Hardin Co. My place is posted. More detail if you go to White Tail Slam web check classifieds under hunt swaps. Key on Tennessee Hunts that would be my location. Let me know if any interest and a chance to hunt over in your area. No shortage of deer, bonus is that you can take a turkey as well during bow season. Savannah has a number of low cost but quality motels/hotels that are only 15/20 minutes from my lease. I'm adding a camping permit to my lease this year if your into that.

Give me a call at (615) 781-6646 sometime and I'll be happy to give you what help I can. I am part of the tn.gov system. I talked to somebody recently from LA, but thought they left with the information they were needing, so I hope it wasn't you that I disappointed.
