Pistol recommendations wanted

I'm in the market for a revolver in either .38 or .357 so I can shoot rat shot out of it as well as it be my concealed carry gun. I want something that is small, stainless, and doesn't have a cocking spur. Don't want to break the bank and have been looking on the web at the Taurus CIA and Protector models. What else should I look at and what would you recommend?

If you get a Taurus, don't get one with a ported barrel. You're not supposed to shoot rat shot through them.

Ruger handguns are built like tanks. Good stuff.

Might get a better set of grips though. My hand hurts just looking at those.

I like my Rugers but theres nothing like the feel of a S&W J or K Model. I carry a model 13 alot,nice trigger,well balenced,don't weigh much. It may be a little bigger than what you want though.I just really like mine. This is a 4" mines a 3".

I would reccomend a S&W model 638. It has the shrouded hammer so it wont snag, yet you can still chocolate chip cookie the gun for a nice single action pull if you need it. It is also alot lighter than a Ruger SP101, and I think the action is alot smoother and the gun is overall more refined than a Taurus and Charter, but it do cost a little more! There is nothing wrong with the Taurus, but for the 50$ more, I do think you get a nicer gun with the Smith.

You asked about a 38 or 357, Witch ever brand you buy i personaly would get the 357. You can shoot both 38 and 357 bullets out of it, kinda like having two guns in one.

I went looking yesterday and found 2 that I liked. I also found the Ruger SP101 and although it's nice it's more than I want to pay and heavier than I want to carry around. The first I liked is a Smith & Wesson model 643 38 airweight for $439. I also found a Taurus CIA 357 for $359 that I liked just as well. So, my question is this...is that a good price on the Taurus?
